We have achieved the honor of being a Five Star House on the 5 Star Standards Accreditation at Rensselaer. Only 5 other fraternities on campus received this honor.

Spring Rush begins Monday, February 1st!

Alright, I'm Sold.  You Guys Rock.  How Do I Join?

In order to become a Brother of the Theta Chapter of Chi Phi there are three main stages that need to be completed.

Rush
Firstly as a Rushee, we are looking for men that best exemplify the three main values of Chi Phi: Truth, Honesty, and Personal Integrity. We are also looking for men that have similar interests to the house. The Theta Chapter is a dynamic group of people whose interests vary widely. This is what makes us unique. We have no particular niche like other houses, so a Rushee is encouraged to be themselves.

The Rush period is a time in which we throw events that best show the interest of the House. Events vary from Paintball trips to Wednesday night Poker Tournaments to Rock Climbing. As a Rushee all of these events are free to prospective members. If you are interested in becoming a Brother then we encourage you to visit our house and meet the Brothers. All Brothers will answer any question that you may have regarding the House, Pledging, or even life at RPI.

Bids
After the Rush period has ended, Bids will be given out. A Bid is a formal invitation to become a member of our house. As a Bidee we encourage you to share your decision with your family. We understand that many parents have a false impression of what Fraternity life is like, and we are working hard to get that stereotype out of mainstream. If at any point during Rush or the Bidee period, your parent wishes to contact the house, they are more than welcome to. After a Bid has been given out, the Bidee has one week to either sign or reject the bid.

Pledge
If a Bidee decides to sign the bid, they will then go through a formal pinning ceremony in which they take a pledge to work to become a Brother in Chi Phi. The Bidee then becomes a Pledge or New Member. The Pledge period lasts the better part of a semester, and requires a minimum of 3 hours of your time a week. Pledges are expected to attend weekly Pledge meetings in which the Pledge Educator will discuss the history of the Chi Phi Fraternity, history of the Theta Chapter, and many other ideals of Chi Phi. Pledges will also be encouraged to make bonds with their Pledge Brothers who will also be going through the Pledge Process. There is a strict no hazing policy that is followed for the entirety of the Pledge Process (we really mean it). The Pledge Process will also cover many traditional items such as Pledge Boxes and Pledge Paddles. After the Pledge Process has completed, there will be an initiation, and then the New Member will become a Brother in the Chi Phi Fraternity.
